hi,
i think this is not a new topic..sorry but i want the latest information!
im want to study in moscow next year.Can i know how much is the living cost there?(excluding rental as we goin to stay in hostel)
for example how much is :
1 kg of rice
1 l of milk
bread,chicken,vegetables |

I can't give you precise prices but:
In our shops there are following prices depending on brand. In Moscow there is bigger variation of prices.
rice (0.9 kg) 25..45 roubles
milk (1 l) 20..25 roubles
white bread (0.8 kg) ~15 roubles
frozen chicken (1 kg) ~75..90 roubles
prices on vegetables depends on season:
summer/autumn:
cucumber (1 kg): 20..30 r
tomatoes (1 kg): 65..80 r
apples (1 kg): ~80 r
red pepper (1 kg): 120..140 r
winter/spring: you can double all prices |

This is what we have in the center of Moscow. You will find lower prices further from the center in Auchan, Kopeika or Perekrestok supermarkets or small shops. |

thanks a lot but there is something else i want to ask..how about the russian? Are they friendly..I read from somewhere else that they don't speak english to foreigner ..
Besides how much is a set of Mcd in Moscow? Will the living cost in St. Petersburg cheaper than Moscow? |

Theoretically Russians should know one of foreign languages - English, German, or French. They learn it in school. Practically they forget this language right after they graduate from school because there is no practice. Therefore most Russians don't understand English.
Yes they are friendly. |

Piter is cheaper than Moscow to live in.
Friendly, Hmm, if a total stranger who speaks a foreign language starts to speak with a New Yorker, will they always stop?
Generally Moscovites are friendly, but they are busy, but they do try to help. Outside of the main center, they are more laid back and friendly. |
