WOW, thats a lot... Just to make sure you didn't add an extra zero, that is sixteen thousand right?
Well, Im not sure the best way (maybe like a debit card or some sort of online transaction through a bank), but I know you cannot bring that much cash on a plane!!! |

Find a bank that have its branch in your country and in Russia. Open account. Put money to account at your country then get them in Russia. The fees should be minimal. Probably UniCredit will be useful. Do not forget that banks have maximum amount of money that you can get instantly without additional fees. If you want to withdraw USD $16000 at once you need to warn the bank in advance that you are going to withdraw from an account large sum of money. |

mmm, I don't know now but in 1998 my boss asked me to bring 10 000 USD to a partner in Belarus. I had the pokets full of cash, and when the customs read the declaration form he just asked me to show the money and then let me pass the check point without asking me a single question |

OHHH... I was thinking it was more of a personal thing, not business related... Its my fault for making an assumption!!But anyway that is good that they let you pass I wasnt thinking about customs.
I am not sure where you are, but I know here US there is a legal limit to how much you can bring on a plane but I am not sure how much that is! And saying that of course only means anything if you actually get caught when going through screening
I know this has not been very helpful of me so far.... I would agree with ender in doing a bank transfer~ Easy, Secure, and Cheap (possibly even free depending on the bank) |

There's no limit to how much cash you can bring "on an airplane", yet you will have to declare the amounts you are carrying when you pass through customs. Probably not a good idea to bring that much cash, though. If it were me I'd find a bank...

| But the problem is even if you use a debit card you cant cash so much money in one day how about carrying travelers checks for that amount, but they might not change them in Russia. |

| It has been quite routine for adopting parents to take this amount of cash to Russia. Make sure you take notes in very good condition (Russian banks are skeptical of worn notes), and declare what you take at customs. You may also wish to consider how you carry it. I don't recommend putting it all in your wallet where it would be visible when you make a small purchase. |
