HI, This may be a confusing question but...
I have a friend in piter that says she really needs to talk to me. But I haven't really heard from her in the past couple days and the one time she did contact me she said that her internet was down. Then she said that she will be right back to talk but then she never came back online.
Its been about 2 and half days, I have only seen other people, that live by her and might be having the same issue, online once.
I am wondering if anyone knows if there is any internet that is down or if it's normal for this to happen?
I know that this is a long shot question but my friend has a prepaid phone that is out of money and the internet is the only other easy way to get a hold of her. |

| it is quite possible to have a day break in Internet connection - 2 days also possible. They may have repaires - or upgrading procedure. |

Can your provider have a day for maintenance? Probably yes. Can you imagine a six million city cut off for a few days? Probably no.
Maybe she's just got her computer screwed up? |

Well she is back online now
Your that there is a bad chance that a whole city would lose internet, IF that whole city is using the same ISP. I do recall reading an article saying something like that has happened before in Russia somewhat recently. |

Oh those articles... No, it's not happening of course. The only possible reason is some terrific blackout but such things only happen once in 100 years.
Can you imagine this here in States? Then why do you think it can happen in Russia? Can a multimillion city all use the same ISP? |

I will see if I can find that article since you don't believe me, it may take awhile since I havent read it in a while, but I will look...
As for your other questions... YES I can see it happening in the US, being a network technician I have seen it happen... I am not talking about one huge city, I am talking about a small area on one ISP, Because NO I do not see everyone in a multimillion city all using one ISP! |

I am not saying that the article is correct or trustworthy, just that it said that internet in Russia (dont remember where) was what for an extended period of time! |
