Hello,
what's best to take on our trip on the transsiberian. Dollar or Euro currency?
Is it better to take the dollar because it's more cheaper than Euro currency?
Thanks

| The exchange is about 23 Rubles per dollar and 36 Rubles per euro, so if it were me, take the euro! |

| tillwehavefaces, wouldn't that only be relevant if the exchange rate EUR-USD was 1:1? |

| Train attendants and local people at train stops might not have the latest currency exchange rates but they will probably have a general idea of what the rouble is worth in your currency. Whether they will exchange your money for roubles is another matter. If they think they can make money on the exchange, they probably will. If it is too much trouble or they might lose money, probably not. Given the daily swings in US Dollar/ Euro/ Rouble valuations, it could go either way. Or change your money to roubles in Moscow and don't worry about exchange rates. |

Right now, the Russia is using 16 billion a day to keep the Ruble up versus the US dollar. THere is a rumour that they might let it go and the Rouble will fall significantly in the short term to USD.
Next 2-6 months, USD over Euro. After that Euro.
My guess.
About a year, with reforms, Ruble will be back on trend to go up again. |
